We all traveled down to St. Louis, Missouri for the week of Thanksgiving to hang out with Grandpa and Grandma. We had a great time visiting a few sites of the city and just hanging around the house. Brooklyn loves looking at all of my dad’s hunting trophies. She quickly reacquainted herself to the jackal – she wouldn’t touch him last time she saw him in July, but she had no reservations this time.
The first couple of days, the weather was fantastic! Brooklyn loved playing in the dirt and running around the yard, as well as filling the bird feeders. I made it my mission all week to try and photograph some of the birds, with fair success.
On Monday, we went out to the farm and did a little fishing. I caught a fish using an artificial lour for the first time – I’m usually a worm and cricket girl. Never really thought those things worked – pretty cool! We all had a great time, including Brutus!
That evening, Brooklyn was more than willing to help Grandma make some chocolate chip cookies. And what kind of baker would she be if she didn’t taste-test her work! :)
The next day the weather was about 30-40 degrees cooler, so we headed in to town for some indoor fun. We went to a amazing place for kids called The Magic House. It is a collection of activities that encourages gross motor and fine motor skills, sensory exploration, and community role-playing for smaller kids, in addition to historical and governmental learning activities for older kids. If you are ever in or around St. Louis with young children, this is a must-see! You won’t be disappointed. We had a great time! I wish we could of had more time to spend exploring – we didn’t even get to see half of it! We will definitely be going back!
Well – that was the first few days, the rest of week coming soon! :)
